Jaclyn newell, amft, APCC

Jaclyn is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor working under the supervision of Dr. Tracy Wutzke. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Jaclyn’s clinical experience includes working in a nonprofit, community-based mental health clinic and administering culturally competent therapy to diverse populations for a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, phase of life issues, identify formation, grief, and loss. She also completed training in immediate intervention and volunteers at a crisis line, where she works to counsel youth and adults in need of immediate support.

Before pursuing a career in mental health, Jaclyn worked as an attorney, advocating for clients who were experiencing great life challenges— supporting and encouraging individuals through difficult courtroom proceedings with high stakes, such as domestic violence restraining order trials and high-conflict child custody disputes. She volunteered at the Stanley Most Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles and other settings, sitting with victims of domestic violence as they recounted their trauma and preparing declarations and legal documents for judicial review.

Jaclyn’s combined education and experience have led her to adopt a trauma-informed approach to therapy that is rooted in psychodynamic theory and incorporates mindfulness, a humanistic lens, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
